Tak sedikit perempuan yang memutuskan berbisnis dengan modal nekad, namun ternyata mampu meraup kesuksesan. Para perempuan memiliki beberapa kelebihan untuk berbisnis dibandingkan dengan pria. Berikut beberapa kelebihan dan kekurangan perempuan dalam mengelola bisnis dibanding dengan pria:

1. Jaringan:
Dibandingkan pria, perempuan memiliki keunggulan dalam hal jaringan. Perempuan memiliki keunggulan dalam segi jaringan pemasaran, karena memiliki pergaulan yang luas. Hal ini disebabkan perempuan memiliki kemampuan sosial dan mudah bergaul, sehingga lebih mudah untuk bisa menjaring konsumen. Misalnya saja melalui arisan.
2. Kreatif:
Perempuan dinilai lebih jeli melihat peluang usaha, dan pandai melihat celah usaha dibandingkan dengan pria. Terkadang hal yang terterpikirkan oleh para pria dan dinilai merupakan langkah bisnis sepele, justru bisa mendatangkan keuntungan dan kesuksesan bila dilakukan oleh kaum perempuan.
3. Telaten:
Perempuan lebih teliti dalam menjalankan bisnis. Hal-hal detail dalam bisnis seperti urusan packaging, labeling, atau hal kecil lainnya, sangat dipikirkan oleh perempuan sehingga membuat produknya menjadi lebih menarik, dan memiliki daya jual yang tinggi.
4. Tidak mudah putus asa:
Dalam berbisnis, perempuan lebih tangguh dan tidak mudah putus asa ketika mengalami kegagalan. Seringkali ketika menghadapi masalah PHK, perempuan lebih tangguh dalam mencari cara untuk bisa bertahan dan mengesampingkan gengsinya untuk memulai usahanya dari bawah dibanding pria. Banyak pegawai yang akhirnya bisa hidup berkecukupan berkat adanya bantuan usaha dari istrinya yang punya usaha sampingan di rumah.

1. Terlalu banyak pikiran:
Ini sepertinya merupakan permasalahan dasar setiap perempuan. Dedikasinya yang besar pada keluarga membuat para perempuan, khususnya ibu rumah tangga, memiliki banyak pikiran ketika memutuskan memulai kegiatan wirausahanya. Banyak perempuan yang berpikir tentang meninggalkan anak-anak untuk bekerja, atau tidak bisa mengurus suami, atau hal lainnya. Padahal dengan menjadi pebisnis semua hal bisa diselesaikan dengan baik, dan waktu yang dimiliki lebih fleksibel dibanding pekerja kantoran.
2. Empati berlebihan:
Sifat ini lebih mirip seperti bumerang dalam berbisnis. Di satu sisi, sifat empati ini bisa membuat para perempuan peka terhadap berbagai kondisi di sekitarnya. Tak jarang berbagai ide bisnis justru hadir dari keprihatinan ini, misalnya usaha untuk mengolah limbah kain, limbah plastik, dll. Namun, di sisi lain, sifat empati ini kadang tumbuh berlebihan. Sifat ini tak jarang membuat perempuan tidak berpikir rasional dan justru mengutamakan sisi emosionalnya. Sehingga perempuan yang baru mulai berbisnis atau sudah mampu menjalankan usaha kerap mengalami berbagai masalah, seperti penipuan misalnya.
3. Manajemen bisnis:
Sampai saat ini, mental perempuan dalam berbisnis belum setangguh pria. Selain itu pengalaman dalam bidang manajemen bisnis masih kalah dibanding pria. Para perempuan seringkali ragu dan bimbang ketika mengambil keputusan yang berhubungan dengan manajemen bisnis. Namun, hal ini sebenarnya bisa diatasi dengan pengalaman berbisnis dan melalui sekolah-sekolah formal.
4. Takut gagal:
Dibandingkan pria, perempuan masih sering ketakutan untuk mengambil risiko besar dalam memulai bisnis, dan mengambil langkah untuk mengembangkan usahanya. Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya banyak hal yang dipikirkan menyangkut ekonomi keluarga, dan anak-anak. Ini juga menjadi hambatan untuk berkembang. Kegagalan seseorang dalam berbisnis adalah hal yang wajar. Karena kegagalan ini bisa menjadi cambuk untuk tetap bisa berinovasi dan berani melangkah maju. Ketakutan untuk gagal membuat para perempuan ini cenderung untuk berjalan di tempat
